03-Dec-12 Monday Update - Doyline Evacuation

Today’s activities moved a bit more slowly than yesterday but this was expected. Just over 350,000 pounds of product were moved today. The confinement of the hallways and poor packaging of the product caused impaired additional progress.

A three-day total of 1.2 million pounds of product has now been removed and properly placed in magazines. The evacuation has been extended into Tuesday and personnel are reviewing those decisions on a day by day basis.

As a precautionary measure, Sheriff Sexton recommended to the police jury to make a request of the Secretary of State for permission to change the location of Saturday’s voting polls to other sites outside the evacuation zone.

We are anticipating delays in operations due to forecasted thunderstorms. If lightning occurs within a five mile radius of the product, operations will be suspended until it is safe to resume.

Currently no individuals are sheltered at Caney Lake Conference Center.
