MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

                                      WEBSTER PARISH POLICE JURY

                                                      March 22, 2022

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Jim Bonsall, President; Nick Cox, Vice President; Steve Lemmons, Steve Ramsey, Randy Thomas, Beverly Kennon, Vera Davison, Allen Gilbert, Bruce Blanton, Ed Jordan and Bernard Hudson.

ABSENT: Daniel Thomas

 

Mr. Jim Bonsall called the meeting to order and asked Mr. Nick Cox to open the meeting with prayer. 

Mr. Patrick Jackson led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Mr. Bonsall then asked for additions to the agenda.

 

Mr. Ed Jordan moved, seconded by Mr. Bruce Blanton to add advertise to bid repairs at the Webster Parish Health Unit building, advertise to hold a Public Hearing concerning abandonment of Waldron Road and advertise to hold a Public Hearing concerning closure of Harvell Day Road. Motion carried unanimously.

 

There were no comments from the audience concerning the agenda.

 

Mr. Bruce Blanton moved, seconded by Mr. Nick Cox to approve the ITEP Industrial Tax Exemption Application #20210340-ITE, Teijin Automotive Technologies’ Louisiana, LLC 26755 US HWY 371, Sarepta, LA 71071, Webster Parish. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Mr. Allen Gilbert moved, seconded by Mr. Ed Jordan to approve the Registrar’s request to hire a Confidential Assistant according to Louisiana Revised Statute 18:59.2. The amount that will be added to the Registrar’s budget will be increased by $21,022.60 annually. This will include 50% of the salary plus retirement and Medicare cost. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Mr. Randy Thomas moved, seconded by Ms. Beverly Kennon to approve Resolution 005-2022 concerning the final sale documents of the Webster Parish Landfill. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Mr. Steve Ramsey moved, seconded by Ms. Vera Davison to approve to advertise to hold a Public Hearing concerning the adoption of Reapportionment Plan 1 for Webster Parish, Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10:30AM in the Webster Parish Courthouse Annex, Police Jury Meeting Room, 401 Main Street, Minden, LA 71055. Motion carried unanimously.

 

 Maps for the Reapportionment Plan 1 for Webster Parish will be in the lobby of the Police Jury office for public viewing until the Public Hearing on April 5, 2022.

 

Mr. Ed Jordan moved, seconded Mr. Steve Ramsey to install “No Thru Truck” signs on Carter Road in Webster Parish end to end. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Mr. Steve Lemmons moved, seconded by Ms. Beverly Kennon to Advertise to Bid Repairs at the Webster Parish Health Unit Building. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Advertise to Hold a Public Hearing on Waldron Road was tabled.

Advertise to Hold a Public Hearing on Harvell Day Road was tabled.

 

There being no further business to bring before the Jury, the meeting adjourned.
